The Academic Talent Search (ATS) program provides alternative educational opportunities to highly able and motivated students in grades six through nine. Founded in 1981, ATS is one of dedication to offering appropriate scholastic services to meet student needs, offering academically challenging, fast-paced and enriched coursework to students." The Accelerated College Entrance (ACE) program assists highly able high school students to further their academic growth during the regular school year. Founded in 1985, ACE allows students to enroll at California State University, Sacramento while concurrently completing high school studies. Space in this program is limited. Selected students are allowed to register for one or two courses and earn university credits for a significantly reduced fee.

Summer Math and Science Academy
COSMOS is the name for the California State Summer School in Math and Science. COSMOS provides a summer residential experience for highly motivated academically talented high school students. It is hosted at UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis. Students entering grades 9, 10,11, 12 in the fall school year from all California public and private schools are eligible to apply for admission. Students must have previously established academic excellence in science and/or mathematics.
While topics may vary between the two sites, participants will have opportunities in biochemistry, oceanography, oceanic studies, biomedical, or environmental engineering, descrete math, non-Euclidean geometry, earth system science, computer and information science, psychobiology, marine biology and other advanced topics.

Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) plays a leadership role in the delivery of quality education to the students in Sacramento County. SCOE directly educates more than 30,000 children and adults, and provides support services to 215,000 students in 16 school districts. In addition, SCOE is considered a leader of the Capital Service Region, a 10-county area consisting of Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba Counties
