Nathan FreitasOver the last twelve years, my career has spanned the academic, corporate, and non-profit sectors, with a consistent focus on solving difficult real world problems through the thoughtful application of new technologies. I am looking to be a passionate, enthusiastic and valuable contributor to any team who is trying to take their product or service that one step farther than what might seem possible with their resources or capabilities. As a technologist, I’ve architected and implemented countless services and sites built with Java/J2EE, .NET and LAMP, using fat client, AJAX and RIA approaches. I’ve worked on platforms ranging from the earliest of Palm handhelds to high-end Solaris clusters, and most recently virtual world systems such as Second Life, cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services, and mobile platforms such as Google Android. I’ve contributed to open-source projects including the ROME RSS Library for Java, and received patents for wireless groupware systems. As an active geek, I digg, blog, tweet, garden wikis and so forth. My management experience runs from three years as an executive officer in charge of over thirty employees, hands-on management of engineering and product teams, shipping of multiple commercial software products through complete development cycles, and the creation of startups through angel and professional funding. I have also served as Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors for a ten year old non-profit focused on the Tibetan cause. ExperienceFor the last year I have been an independent consultant working with a number of companies to add innovative twists to their product or service. The work has included designing and implementing a multi-device mobile site for an established portal, launching a presence in Second Life and Myspace for media companies, and implementing complex CMS systems for a variety of organizations.
